Stanford University is actively seeking a part-time Research Assistant within University Architect/Campus Planning Department . This position is expected to last approximately six months starting mid-March. As a Stanford temporary employee, the individual hired into this role is not eligible for some Stanford benefits, however you may be eligible to purchase health insurance per the Affordable Care Act. This temporary assignment will provide our hire with the opportunity to work in one of the leading academic institutions in the world. For more information about the department visit http://lbre.stanford.edu/architect/ A summary of responsibilities of this position: • Perform various exploratory, information gathering and research functions to obtain factual information for written publication/communication. • Historic survey and documentation. • Photographic and narrative documentation of architecture on campus. • Compile and edit architectural reports. • Compose written material across a variety of channels. • Compile supplemental materials (i.e., images, spreadsheets, biographies, and other written materials) that support written communication. QUALIFICATIONS MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: • Undergraduate, graduate or two years of related experience in complimentary fields will be considered. • Students in Architecture, Urban Design, Art and Art History, English are welcome to apply. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • Basic computer skills and proficiency in Photoshop, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel. • Compilation and editing of architectural reports is required. • Must have a positive attitude, be able to adapt to changing working requirements, be a fast learner & be able to multi task on many projects. • Basic photography skill a must. • Proven success in writing for publication in print, web, and other platforms. • Excellent writing, interpersonal, and oral communication skills with proven ability to present, write, edit, and organize thoughts in a clear, concise, and well-organized manner. • Thorough command of the English language and grammar. • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple deadlines. • Excellent time management skills. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*: • Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks. • Frequently sitting with occasional campus visits. • Occasionally stand/walk, reach/work above shoulders, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, grasp forcefully, use a telephone, sort/file paperwork or parts, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds. • Rarely twist/bend/stoop/squat, kneel/crawl. * - Consistent with its obligations under the law, the University will provide reasonable accommodation to any employee with a disability who requires accommodation to perform the essential functions of his or her job.
