Ministry Description: The Contemporary Worship Leader is responsible for leadership, oversight and support of the 9 AM contemporary service, working with the Pastor, the Music Director, and Worship Elder to ensure the best possible worship experience in a part time setting, 10-15 hours a week. Responsibilities: Heart – The Worship Leader will need a heart for the Lord and provide leadership in line with the vision and mission of SCPC. Serving as both a music and spiritual leader, they will need a theology of worship that is biblical and Christ centered. Planning – Organizational planning, preparation, and execution are vital. The Leader coordinates band member schedules, communicates with the A/V team about ProPresenter and Planning Center each week, and plans and leads rehearsals/worship. Working with the pastor and collaborating with the praise team, the Worship Leader selects music for the contemporary service, choosing music that will enhance and uplift the worship. Songs that inspire our congregation come from artists such as: Hillsong, Elevation, Phil Wickham, and For King & Country. We like other genres to mix it up from time to time, too! Preparation – The leader will recruit, develop, and inspire the Praise band/worship team. This person will oversee a weekly practice session, which should begin with a short bible study or devotion (lead by, and at times delegated by, the Worship Leader). Attend a weekly meeting with the pastor and organize members of the team using Planning Center. The Worship Leader works under the rules and guidelines of the staff handbook. Collaboration – The leader will work collaboratively with the staff in planning for holidays such as Christmas, Lent, Easter as well as One Church Sundays. The Worship Leader will also be responsible for the occasional special church event such as a “Night of Worship”. Attributes & Skills we seek: Spiritually mature walk with Christ. Strong vocal abilities to lead songs, prayers, and worship transitions. Ability to play guitar or keyboard is a plus but not a requirement. Serve as a musical and spiritual mentor/coach for other members of the team. Display technical competence with A/V equipment to work with our technicians for the best quality worship. Comfort navigating worship-related software tools such as Planning Center and Praise Charts.
