Senior Accountant - Cash

Overview The Senior Cash Accountant will support a variety of accounting functions with a primary focus on oversight of daily bank reconciliations-including facilitating company initiatives with direct impacts on revenue collections, and performing and assisting with key account reconciliations and month-end close to support the integrity of financial statements in accordance with US GAAP. Responsibilities The essential functions in this job description are not all-inclusive of this position's duties and responsibilities. Knowledge of U.S. GAAP Train and supervise accounting/cash staff ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of daily and monthly bank reconciliations Review and approve detailed reconciliations of cash and credit card bank accounts, including all related journal entries Support initiatives to automate bank matching in the accounting system without manual intervention Implement and develop solutions to drive accounting efficiencies, particularly in the areas of restaurant sales and bank data integrations into accounting systems Ensure compliance with internal controls, including the timely resolution of outstanding items in collaboration with other departments (IT, Treasury, etc) Develop internal reporting metrics related to cash management Work with external parties to resolve issues, streamline processes and implement new initiatives Prepare other balance sheet account reconciliations, as assigned, with reference to supporting documentation Support the timely completion of month-end close process and reconciliations in compliance with U.S. GAAP Maintain a strong internal control environment Analyze accounting problems and arrive at workable solutions. Evaluate information, identify key issues that need to be addressed and develop courses of action that effectively address the issue at hand Adhere to Company policies and procedures Qualifications Bachelor's Degree with a concentration in Accounting; CPA a plus Minimum 4-7 years of progressive public and/or private accounting experience Excellent understanding of bank reconciliations and related controls Knowledge/exposure to various accounting processes and software Experience within the retail, restaurant, or similar industry that includes multiple locations Experience with and understanding of SOX a plus Experience with internal and external auditors Who We Are First Watch is an award-winning Daytime Dining concept serving made-to-order breakfast, brunch and lunch using fresh ingredients.
